Hmm I realized I'm missing a post from June....

I made the twins 18th birthday cakes and don't see that post. Maybe I saved it as draft and deleted it lol. These are giant chocolate cookie cakes that I made. The pokeball was easy, but I spent some time "painting" with frosting and gel fondant colors to get the tardis starry starry night. We thought they turned out pretty nice...not perfect, but hey lol.

One of the twins also graduated - the other has one year left since she's also getting her associates degree at the same time.

It's that time again!

I love love love seeing these in the store! The picture is a little fuzzy, but that is 2 stalks of brussel sprouts in my cart. Yummy! I got so excited when I saw them that I squealed a little and had someone asking me how to cook them and then they bought some too LOL. We've already made some and ate them without taking any pic of the final dish. We barely made a dent in one stalk, so there will be plenty more.

I split them into halves then saute with some olive oil, fresh minced garlic, salt, pepper, and sun dried tomatoes. This time I also added some fresh mushrooms. It is the best way I've had sprouts and I crave them like this year round. They are sooooooo much better fresh off a stalk - the difference in taste (and texture) is incredible.

It's been an amazing day and these just topped it off.

And here's this handsome fella - Maximus is 8 months old today and a huge precocious mess that will melt your heart with just a look and a lifted paw for you to shake while he drools all over you lol

Caela's cake

I've been very busy this weekend. Caela turns 19 this week and with my work schedule I decided to go ahead and make her cake. It was a lot of rolling! That was my arm workout for the day. It is a bit lumpy because she insisted on German chocolate cake...it's not easy to smooth out pecans and coconut!

I still dream of just being allowed to create for a living. I've been cooking a lot lately to lose weight. It is so easy to save on calories as long as I make it myself. After weeks and weeks of this, I'm finding anything not freshly made to be gross and/or just not tasty enough to be worth the calories. Here's my first try at chicken tortilla soup made the healthy low-fat way. It turned out nothing less than spectacular! And....eating like this is paying off on the scale and inches lost.

Wonder what next week will bring...
